About us

Founded by mothers. Growing for mothers.

The Mama Vida Club is a mother-led nonprofit community in Vienna, built around the real lives, experiences, cultures and strengths of mothers.

We bring together women from different countries, languages and life paths with one shared purpose: to build the village that so many mothers are missing.

How it began

From isolation to community.

In 2020, Ludisis — known in the community as Mamá Ludi — arrived in Austria as a Cuban migrant during the pandemic.

She became a mother far away from her original family and support network. During a period shaped by isolation, adapting to a new country and her own experience of postpartum depression, she learned firsthand how vulnerable motherhood can feel when the village around a mother is missing.

But she also carried something deeply rooted in her Cuban heritage: music, movement, warmth, community and the belief that difficult moments are not meant to be carried alone.

What began with dance, conversations and small moments of connection between mothers gradually grew. Other women brought their own cultures, professions, experiences, skills and ideas.

Over time, a personal experience became something collective: a community in which mothers are not simply participants, but active contributors.

Mama Vida did not begin with a finished concept. It grew because mothers started building together what many of them had been missing themselves.
Our principle

By mothers. For mothers.

At The Mama Vida Club, mothers are not seen as passive recipients of services. The community itself is a source of knowledge, experience, creativity and mutual support.

01

Mothers create

Many of our activities grow directly from the ideas, talents and lived experiences of mothers within the community.

02

Mothers share

Languages, recipes, professional knowledge, cultural traditions, everyday experience and mutual support are exchanged naturally.

03

Mothers lead

Workshops and activities are shaped both by professionals and by mothers who bring their own expertise, skills and perspectives.

Migration, language, family structure or background should never be barriers to belonging. At Mama Vida, mothers meet as women, learners, friends, neighbours and active contributors to community life.

What connects us

Community begins with belonging.

Our work is not based on an idea of what a “perfect mother” should look like. It begins with what real women in different life situations actually need.

Connection Relationships and community help reduce isolation and create the foundation for mutual support.
Inclusion Language, origin, family structure or financial circumstances should never determine whether a mother belongs.
Participation Mothers contribute ideas, share knowledge, shape activities and become active members of the community.
Empowerment We see mothers as women with abilities, experiences, ambitions and opportunities to grow.
Visibility & impact

Mama Vida in the media.

What began as a personal experience and a small community is becoming increasingly visible in Vienna. We are grateful when conversations around motherhood, mental wellbeing, inclusion and community reach beyond our own spaces.

Community in motion

Sometimes community is something you can feel.

Mama Vida is also movement, music, joy and the freedom to remain yourself while being a mother.

Real mothers. Real stories. A growing community.

Every gathering, workshop, dance and conversation is part of a larger goal: creating spaces where mothers can connect, grow and feel that they do not have to navigate motherhood alone.

The Mama Vida Club

The village grows when people build it together.

Whether you are a mother, professional, community partner or European organisation, we welcome people who believe in connection, dignity and meaningful community.
